A day in Cadillac

Now that I'm not working so much I had the chance to go visit my oldest daughter in Cadillac, with a bonus of being able to see all of the grand kids as well. Of course I saw each one (3) of them only briefly because they all have jobs and it was hello, good to see you, what you been up to and love you bunches, see you soon kind of visit with them.
Right now the city of Cadillac is hosting 11 realistic bronze life size figures by the internationally renowned sculptor Seward Johnson. They have placed these figures all over the downtown area so we were able to get our walking done as well. The artist has been able to recreate life in vivid detail, engaged in everyday activities. He tries to draw attention to the simple pleasures of life, some with humorous detail.

This little girl is placed  just outside the public library, its called "My World"

This figure is near an outside pavilion at the water front of Cadillac lake, many concerts, small plays and events occur here so he is taking care of the clean up, its rightly called "Aftermath"

I didn't quite get the title of this one, you can see the pavilion and the lake in the back ground. But the title for this is "My dog has fleas"

This guy is called "Holier than thou" the look on his face says it all. That's my daughter standing next to him, she isn't a sculpture
I especially liked this one having worked with the elderly for so many years, just seeing two friends chatting together is so typical. And the detail of their clothing, jewelry, and little packages looked so real. Its called "Crossing Paths"
This was our yummy lunch, we ate at the Shay Station, lots of things to look at in there too, gifts, flavored coffees, wines and unusual items for sale beside good food.
This gentleman's title is "News paper reader" and he is sitting in front of the Cadillac news building which is one of the oldest buildings in Cadillac dating back to the 1800's. I'm proud to tell you this is where my grandson Brandon is working and has written many articles that have ended up on the front pages of the newspaper.
These two aren't sculptures either but of course we had to do one of the self pictures with the camera, you know you set the timer and run to get into position, always fun to see how it turns out. I had a great time spending the day with Tina and really enjoyed the sculpture tour. Made me think of the passage in the Bible about the gifts we are given by God. " Fan into flame the gift of God" " Do not neglect your gift"

This artist has surely cultivated his talent.
