Yes, There are still deals to be had!!!!!

I don't know about you but just when faith in ever getting a good deal again on anything seems to be lost forever in our spiraling economy, something happens to renew the good old American spirit.. before I elaborate on my good fortune I have to tell a bit of background.

My sweet man and I love to travel, we both thank goodness, have a sense of adventure and like to visit places that are out of the way from the norm. I know we are not the only living creatures on the earth with that inbred curiosity but we are limited for sure on finances and this year is not exception. In fact we have limited our travels this winter to just a couple of short jaunts, so we can hopefully, God willing take a more extensive trip this summer. We both love the warmer weather and don't mind the heat. We have started to gather information from places that we think we might want to travel to this summer and initially were thinking eastern states, where we have not yet been, but our love for the west and all the history out there seems to draw us back. I know what your thinking, there is so much history in the east too, but, but, but, oh the west with the mountains and the clean fresh air, the valleys, and the arid deserts. The Ghost towns and the mining camps scattered all over, and the two tracks that no one, (well almost no one) ever goes on. All of that seems to be calling us back.

So with all of that said, my sweet man was in desperate need of hiking boots or shoes, and being the particular man that he is with feet that seem to only like certain shoes we went in search of said shoes yesterday before all the sandals come out, further hindering us to find just the right ones.

I don't usually promote any certain stores or brands but I have to tell you if you need shoes check out the Shoe Carnival, because here's where my faith in the American way just got renewed. We got four pairs of shoes for the sweet man for just a tad over $100.00 now I call that a super deal!!!! Shoe Carnival generally has buy one get another 1/2 price but these were just the brand (Columbia) that his little tootsies prefer, hiking boots and a more moderate overall every day shoe, plus a pair of (Sketcher) sandals, you know the type you can wear through mud, water, sludge, and they hold up under any kind of misuse. Most were marked down to begin with but then they gave him an additional 10% off just for being a senior citizen!!!! There are some redeeming factors to being a senior, which brings me back to the reason we will probably head out west, we are both getting older and this may just be the last year we can both do the hiking, climbing, ghost town hunting in the wild west. So there you have it. My story of a great deal that warmed my heart and didn't hurt the pocket book to badly.

That is awesome that you and Ray get to adventure out. Keep doing it while you can. You know, out West is good for now, because later you might not be able to drive as long distances. LOL Out East is nice too, It can be very pretty. The only places I have been are Pennsylvania and West Virginia and those are awesome. You could do West Virginia hiking around New River Gorge. That is beautiful there. That would be a nice place to visit in the fall and it is only 11-12 hours away. That makes a nice long weekend run.
Congrats on the shoe deal! Bonus on the extra percentage off for being a Senior!!! Kinda weird thinking of ya like that.

That is cool, is it this year your grandson graduates? Or 2009? Faith and I were talking the other day how you always called her George and I was wondering how you ever came up with that name. Remember I use to bring her to work so Randy could pick her up there. She was only there a few minutes. WE are getting ready for prom soon.
