They have called it the blizzard of 2011 and we are just in the second month of the new year.

I have vivid memories of another blizzard many years ago that some of you haven't lived long enough to remember, but it was even worse. We had high winds and blinding snow for almost a week. Much like yesterday but lasted longer. We had army trucks bigger than houses plow our country road so a family down the street could get out to take some babies to the Dr. and get medication. Cars were buried in drifts 6ft high, and my little maverick was demolished when several cars ran into the same big drift causing lots of damage (no injuries) just cars piling up.

Anyhoo, not being able to get to work makes me feel bad but in the mean time I managed to get in some good Bible reading and make a two layered chocolate cake that I haven't done in years.

Now, maybe I can get up enough gumption to try to get the door opened, and get to the pole barn to maybe start the tractor, this is all a big IF because there is a really big drift at my back door, and my road is still not passable anyway.

Your story of the blizzard long ago was so interesting. I used to live in Ohio and in 1952 we had a humongous blizzard. The snowplow got stuck in front of our house.

Hope you made it to the pole barn and back.

I do remember that blizzard in '78. It was like this day x5 days!
It seems everyone who was snowed in did some baking!

I remember the snowstorm of 78. After 6 days the a V plow came down our road and got stuck. He finally got out and had to come from the other end of the road and come in that way. We had 7 ft. banks on the side of the road and cars had flags on the aerial so we could see them coming. It was a blast. My husband walked to the main road for work for a the 6 days.

Oh, Dear, that is terrible. Sometimes I get snowed in, since I am down at the bottom of a hill. But we don't often have blizzards! Hope you can get out soon.
