Making cookies with lots of smiles

We set aside today as cookie making day, there was originally supposed to be a few others with us but it always seems that something comes up so that some can't make it. Years ago when Mom was  still with us and before children and work schedules and other busyness got in the way we made this an annual event before Christmas. Then all of us shared the spoils to eat, give away or do what ever we wanted to with all the goodies.

As you can see we still had a few laughs and managed to make a variety of over abundance of goodies.

Haystacks are always on the menu, as is magic cookie bars and of course the traditional Christmas cookie that needs embellishment from the expert frosting appliers. AKA my daughter and sister.
We did some peppermint bark and peanut butter bars too.

Is there some kind of traditional activity that any of you do with your family members during the holidays?? I know some of you with little children observe the advent which is great teaching for the preparation of the birth of Jesus.Posted by Picasa

I have never baked cookies with any other person because we have always lived so far away from family. I think it would be so wonderful.....so heart warming.
