THANKSGIVING IS? You fill it in

Sometimes I think we miss the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Have you ever wondered what it was really like at the first Thanksgiving celebration?  I don't think it was anything like the way we do it today. Oh, we do have so much to be thankful for, family gathering together, lots of good food, shelter over our heads, warm beds to sleep in, cars to drive. Things we have things to be to be thankful for.I think the first celebration in 1621 was more a praise and worship to God for His watchful eye over that small band of people who were struggling to survive. To them a day of Thanksgiving was purely religious. With a thankful focus on God, rather then how big the turkey on the table is, or who has the coolest new smart phone, or the latest gadget that will do everything but wash the clothes. Yes all things to thank God for because He has allowed someone to invent them to make yours and my life easier. But do we put the praise on the object and not on the One who allowed it
. 2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Enjoy a very abundant and Blessed Thanksgiving

What an excellent post! I think you are right about the way we think about Thanksgiving Day has changed and it's good for us to think in that old way.
