More of a good thing

We took this picture near Pisgah Mountain lodge, the clouds were below us at several points.

We ate lunch at the lodge and enjoyed the ever changing view while dining a most delicious meal.

This year the Parkway is celebrating its 75Th anniversary so there are all kinds of activities everywhere, bike rally's, folk art, dances, blue grass concerts, fairs and festivals of all sorts.

This rock is known as glass rock because when the sun shines on it especially after a rain shower, it looks like glass. As you can see the day we were there the sun was not cooperating and there was the ever present smoky look that the Smokies are known for.

Not many people visit the Billy Graham training center, known as "The Cove" but it was one of the places we had on our must see list. Ruth Graham had alot of input in the building of the chapel. She wanted the steeple to be as tall as possible so it could be seen from a nearby highway. It stands 85ft high with an 8ft cross on top of that. In fact she wanted everything in the chapel to point toward heaven, so when you stand inside your eyes naturally look up.

All of the wrought iron was made by a local lady who is a blacksmith, the pews came from England that Ruth found in storage and were perfect dimensions needed for this chapel.

The vision for "The Cove", was to provide a place of impact, intercession, instruction and inspiration. The Grahams wanted it to be a place of relaxation, retreat, refreshment and renewal.

Nestled in the mountain of North Carolina it is a place set apart where distractions fade and ordinary life is transformed, allowing us to calm our hearts to hear God's leading. You can walk the trails, or relax on the huge porch of the training center. Many teaching speakers and seminars are offered throughout the year. Nothing was going on the day we were there but the feeling of quiet peace could be felt as we wandered through the grounds.

I loved looking at all your pictures. It was a beautiful ride for you and your hubby! I especially liked seeing the inside of the Billy Graham Chapel. That whole area is just breath-taking.
