Sunday's sermon

Sunday's sermon was a challenging one for me but a good reminder all the same.

The title our pastor choose was "God on the Throne": a picture of holiness, the scripture reference was Isaiah 6:1-4 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: with two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: Holy, holy holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory". At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

Holiness describes= separation, God is set apart lofty high exalted, the train of His robe fills the temple. We forget this sometimes, we can't put God in a box.

Holiness demands= caution, careful living, even the seraphim which means burning ones or angels were cautious around the throne of God. They had six wings but covered their faces with two of them, (not even angels look at His face) their feet with another two,(for protection) and with two they flew carrying out God's will. I have my own agenda daily and forget that God has a better one then I could ever have. I need to be more about doing God's will not mine.

Holiness Declares=God's Glory. God's greatness can be seen everywhere, in nature , in our daily tasks, in a babies face, in an old persons laugh, in the flight of a butterfly, or a drop of rain. His favorite hymn has to be "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory" that is the charactistic of God.

Holiness determines= mystery. I will never understand it all until I get to heaven, but I can study His word to learn as much as I can with the limited mind I have. I must be drawn to know more as I grow into the person He has planned for me to be.

Implementing God's plan= Rehearse God's holiness
Renounce my pride
Reverse my position
Reveal God's glory

I took this from the notes I made and the outline that is in our bulletin and just wanted to share it with my blogging friends.

I've always liked that passage and do even more since our praise and coffee time when Kim used it. Now here's another application from it. Good one!

We have no idea of the true majesty of our Lord and His holiness. He cannot and will not let any sin near him.

"the train of His robe fills the temple"

I can hardly wrap my mind around that thought.

Thanks for sharing your notes with us.
