Footprints

Lately I've been taking my walks on the beach for two reasons, Ok three, one we have these pesty dear flies that pester the daylights out of anyone walking on my road, buzzing relentlessly around your head getting caught in your hair and just about driving me crazy and secondly it has been so hot and humid that the beach has called my name daily to come and walk barefoot in the cool sand where the waves come up on the shore, and the breeze whisks away the cares of the day. And three it is really good excerise for the legs, walking in the sand is hard work.

Anyway, as I walk I leave a foot print in the sand only to have a wave come up and wash it away just as I am stepping down to make a new footprint. It made me think of how the Lord continually forgives us and washes away our sins. What of our sins?? what happens to them??

In Micah 7:19 we read, "He will turn again, He will have compassion upon us, He will subdue our iniquities: and thou will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea". Light cannot penetrate the depths of the sea, did you know, the deeper you go the darker it gets. God has placed our sins in the depth of the sea where there is no light, where they can not be seen, where they will be remembered no more, What compassion this is!!!!!

The psalmist says: "as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us" Psalm 103:12. East and west are infinitely separated and will never meet, that is how far he removed our transgressions from us!!! What mercy is this!!

Isaiah 38:17 says: "behold for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

Did you know "behind thy back" literally means behind (between) the shoulder blades, the one place you cannot see on your body. The imagery here is striking, because God is speaking of Himself in terms of the human body. He placed our sins between His shoulder blades where He can not see them ever!! What love for our sorry souls is this!!!

Sin is mans worst enemy but God has defeated sin through our Lord Jesus who took our sins upon himself. Because Jesus is the way the truth and the life. That is victory!!!!

And so, as I walk in the sand with the waves washing over my footprints I picture my sins of the day being washed away into the depths of the sea never to be seen or heard of again.

Praise God!!!

How wonderful that you can walk at the beach so easily.

And I like the way your mind travels and the parallel you shared. Thanks for sharing that.
