Go East my child, Go East

So as I ponder and run a mental list through my head of all the things I have to do before leaving on a much needed vacation I seem to get myself into a panic mode and feel I will surely forget something vitally important, like my underwear or the camera!!!!
Yes, we are leaving soon for the East coast. Which leads me to ask anyone out there in blog land if they have some good ideas of places to visit???? Do Ya HUH???
We have gone West on many vacations and dearly love the adventure we find in the rugged landscape and history of the ole' West. But we have always said we need to check out the East one of these days so this year its East we go.
We do have a tentative itinerary to get to Maine, see the famous Portland Head lighthouse, maybe get up to Bar Harbor and then circle back through New Hampshire. Mt Washington is on the agenda but we are flexible.
Personally, I really don't care where we go or what we do I'm just looking forward to no schedule, no punching in, no dealing with work and some of the frustrations that come with the health care setting. Don't get me wrong I love my job but taking time off right now is just what the Dr. ordered. I don't have a Dr. but some Dr would agree with me I'm sure... smile

First off, what if you made a physical checklist and then you wouldn't have the same worries of forgetting something. You can just cross is off the list as you pack/do it? I could be wrong but I thought Martha's Vineyard is on the East Coast. I don't know much about it or if it's something that is open to the public but I suppose it's a possibility. I know more about the South East then I do the north east. Haven't been along the coast any further than Cape Cod.

You're going to be a little north of this, but have you been to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island? We went when we live in NJ for three years, and I particularly enjoyed Ellis Island. We did not go up in the Statue, and I know they've just reopened it but that it's also sold out through something like the end of the year. You go over from the Jersey side from Liberty State Park and ride a boat. I can highly recommend it.

If you happen to do that, the Jersey shore is nice, too. Cape May is particularly pretty and has a nice lighthouse.
