If you like crowds, I'm just sayin

Its been a fun filled week where I live, we have had what is known as the Coast Guard Festival going on all this week and its down to the last two days.

You can tour the biggest and most advanced Coast Guard ships, eat junk food at the various food stands, visit the craft booths and see what the local artists are creating and ride on the carnival rides if you dare.

Just walking the boardwalk is interesting because there are boats of all kinds rafted along the seawall with people of all ages enjoying life by the water.

People watching is a favorite of ours and eating some of the junk food. My favorites are the funnel cakes or elephant ears that are sooooo tasty but soooo filled with sugar and fat and who knows what else. But I read if you only partake once or twice a year its no big deal. So were all good here.

All of this celebration is to honor the men and women of the Coast Guard.

Tomorrow is the finale with parades during the day and ending with fantastic fire works over the channel. They put on such a good show that people claim their spot on the grassy areas at 12:01 am on Fri. putting down blankets and chairs, and some staying the night. Its all one big party that lasts for a week. What makes it so nice is that is family oriented and rarely are there any problems but the local police are never far away to keep things under control, not to mention the Coast Guard who are constantly checking the boats that are cruising the channel for safety.

If you like crowds, water, noise, junk food, and interesting people head on down to the water front. This year the weather has been just perfect but when the sun goes down it can get cool so take a sweater or light jacket.

It looks like fun although I'll pass on the rides. I'll join you in the people watching though. It's my favorite thing to do even though I know that people watchers are watching me too.
