Home again, home again jiggety jiggety

Its been a lovely time away from the normal day to day life of working eating and sleeping. This vacation time has taken us to several States and down many roads less traveled. That is one thing we strive for, to find the out of the way places that the normal vacationer nevers sees. We found many of them on this trip and a few that are visited daily by the hundreds.

I do like it when it is less busy and we ventured into the unknown, like the picture you see of the lake and water falls. It was a strenuous walk to get to. I was glad we started out at the crack of dawn before the crowds arrived and the heat of the day. Places like this need to be looked at in silence with only the sounds of nature flooding your senses. The chipmunks were running around at our feet begging for a handout and we gave up part of our granola bars to make them happy.

Then there was the Teton's, there are no other mountain ranges like these, with the high peaks and craggy valleys. We stopped near Jenny Lake to enjoy a tailgate lunch of homemade bison salami that we got at the Mountain man rendezvous, cheese, crackers, apples and cold water. It was a hot afternoon but took a walk anyway just to see what was in the area. The smell of the sagebrush wafting around us as we walked through it is a delightful smell that we don't have at home.

It's good to be home again and we are both ever grateful to have had the experience of seeing so many places of beauty and grandeur. I'm not saying I'm ready to get back to work again but it is one of those necessity's that allows being able to get away. I do feel rested even with all the traveling, there is something about not having a schedule that makes vacations so much fun. We tend to have a basic plan but if something comes up and looks more interesting we often get off on a rabbit trail and that is what it is all about.
Its time to plan the next get away, maybe we will go east one of these days....

Breathtaking scenery. I was just saying to my dd and her friend today that no one comes close to the amazing creation and creativity of our Father. Your pictures prove my point once again! I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday. Welcome back!

What a wonderful experience and time you have had. That's the way we like to travel, too. Such fun to get off the beaten path and the "popular" sites. The picture shows the beauty!!!
