WOW Wonder of Wonders!!!

Sweet man and I stood in front of the window yesterday watching with delight as these two amazing tiny birds spared with each other over the feeder. We have had hummers come to visit us for several years but have never observed this kind of play before. They dipped and dove, twisted and turned around each other and the feeder for hours and even bumped into the window a few times. They took short breaks to rest in the tree for only seconds at a time and returned to the activity of break neck speed wrestling in flight for the whole day and into the evening hours. Occasionally a third hummer joined in but most of the time it was just two of them.

This morning before I left for work it was barely light outside and I could see they were starting all over again. They must have the endurance of great might to keep this up for so long. Perhaps it is some kind of mating ritual. It that case maybe it was practice to chase after all their off spring once they are out of the nest. What ever it was they were a marvel to watch.

They must have finally tired out because no sign of the fast moving playtime was seen this evening.

What fantastic creatures God gives us to watch see His marvelous wonders in nature.

I liked the silhouette (sp?) pictures of the humming birds up against the light blue sky. Very beautiful. They are indeed little birds with tremendous endurance.

Dear Nancy,
I so admire the humming birds. I have never seen them in real life, only on TV and once, as a six year old my dad took us to a museum where there were
a giant skeleton of a blue whale and some tiny humming birds stuffed, sitting on a dry branch.
That very experience meant more than years in school.

Thank you for bringing back good memories and for being such a clever and patient photographer.

A blessed Lord's Day to you aand your family
From Felisol

what great pics!
we don't have a feeder up since they attract bears - but the humming birds do come check out our flowers ... they are such neat little flying critters, aren't they?

They are precious, aren't they? I love to sit on the porch and watch and listen to them.

Your feeder is pretty too!
