Winter freeze

I'm sure that most of you are aware of the winter weather that much of the mid west has been having so I won't go into details of the near blizzard that I had to go through to get to work this morning or the solid ice that covered even the well traveled roads or the drifts that suddenly appeared directly in front of the car as it was speeding down the road at breakneck speeds of 35!!! I think we past by several cars in the ditch or off on the side of the road stuck. Oh, & not to mention the white outs when the wind decided to kick up the soft fluffy white stuff & swirl it directly in front of the wind shield making the road disappear. The wind at an awesome reported speed of 45-50 miles per hour produced wind chills of -20 or more.. I'm just ever thankful for the most wonderful man I married to be the one on the drivers seat. Yes, he got up with me at the crack of dawn, (actually before dawn) put on his muck lucks & gloves, & a few other pieces of clothing to drive me to work... Now THAT IS A SWEET MAN!!! But as you can see in the picture nature (GOD) has made beautiful images out of the ordinary. This is a bird feeder that hangs in the window of one of the residents rooms covered with the signs of our winter freeze. It is an image of beauty only created by the wonders of nature for us to marvel at. I'm still not liking winter to much but agree with most that it is pretty. The trip home was a bit less of a white knuckle ride, only because day light still prevailed. The winds have died down some & even tho' the temps are still in the single digits the snow has settled into a long winters night. Now, I just hope the electricity will stay on, but that's a whole other blog story....do any of you have any stories about venturing out in the tundra today??? Stay warm & safe all you sweet blog friends..

I had the pleasure of staying snuggly and warm all day in my house today. Mark made it back and forth safely to work though- which I'm very thankful for.
Love that picture by the way.

I feel your pain Nancy - I was out there with you! My hubby had to go to work so didn't bring me - but he did unfreeze my car which I was thankful for! :) Today was a little better coming in.

You are so lucky to have such a wonderful man! And while I don't envy the cold and snow, the picture of the bird feeder is beautiful. Stay warm!

I feel sorry for all of you to have to be out in that blizzard to go to work.

Poor Melissa, she had a time today.

I am glad that no one slid into the ditch. Stay safe and keep warm!

Did I hear someone say "more snow tomorrow?"

Great picture. I just stayed in the house all day and called Katelyn to tell her to stay at the dorms and scrap work. Sorry you had to get out though but thank goodness, you've got a great guy!
