De Christmasing the house

I spent the day taking the rest of the decorations down & getting it all boxed up & back in their respectful places to wait until next year. How come it seems like I had more boxes to put away then I had to start with?? I didn't even get all the stuff out this year & tried to keep it tastefully placed so not to appear to cluttered or over done.

Sometime this summer I plan to get the whole works out & sort through it all, keeping only what I will use & donating the rest, or handing it down to other family members.

So what plans do you all have for New years eve?? Each year we have a small dinner party with several of our close friends we have made from church. We always have a good time & every year is a bit different. Dinner is of course the highlight with good conversation, & food. Later we often play a few table games & have some good laughs acting like kids. We even make it to midnight & watch the ball fall on t.v. in New york times square, have a toast with a little bubbly (non alcoholic of course) & give my sweet man a kiss. Times square, that is one place I would have no desire to be on New Years eve, but its fun to watch all the people. At least that was last year we'll see how we do this year. I don't have to work so it shouldn't be a problem to stay up.
Normally if we were at home we would spend a quiet evening with the t.v., computer, or a good book, some snacks & probably go to bed before midnight. I'm like the rest of you & prefer to stay off the roads, with all the amateur drunks out there it can be dangerous. What ever you have planned enjoy the end of another year & Thank God for the blessings He has given you in the old one & for all the blessings He wants to give in the New one....Happy New Year to all

indeed! thank God for the blessings ... and thank you for your encouragement since we "met" ... :o)

your new years sounds much like ours ... in years past, we have gotten together with friends ... and now in years present - we watch the ball drop (though we are an hour behind NY time) ... if i make it to eastern time midnight, i'm happy! *laughing* ...

blessings on you!!!! and yours!!!!

"amateur drunks" ok...that made me laugh...are you a pro or something Nancy? Just kidding! I know better than that! ;)
I have to work the 31st and the 1st, morning shifts. And you know how that goes! But I decided I'm still going to stay up until midnight, I'll just take a nap during the day :) Right now I have no plans which is disappointing, but I'm hoping something interesting comes my way... :)

That sounds like a very nice time. To me New Year's Eve is kind of a lonely time. But with the Lord, I really don't get that lonely. And now I have this computer too to keep me company with friends. :)

We get together with friends- this year it's at our house- 4 couples and it will be 13 kids- it would be 17 but 4 will be missing this year!!!

Our plans this year are a little different. We usually just stay in around the fireside with a few snacks and watch the ball drop at midnight, but this year we will be driving down to Washington DC to babysit our two grandchildren. Their parents haven't been out together without the boys for a year and a half. Since we don't get to play with the boys that often, we decided to drive down for overnight. It is about a three hour trip. It is supposed to snow some tonight so that is a bummer when we want to travel. We are hoping that it is just a "skiff" of snow here.

May you and your family have a happy and safe New Year's celebration with your friends from church.
Hugs,
Cheryl from Cherdecor

We're going to be with some friends, probably staying in too. I've never understood the people who want to go out to Times Square or those other busy places. All those people drunk and crazy - and all that drinking must make them have to use the bathroom - and where do you think they're all going? In the street! I'm just glad I'm not the one that has to clean up the "confetti" off the streets at the end! :)
Happy New Year Nancy!

I have people coming to my house and we'll do the same as you do! We wait till midnight, then everyone heads home. I'll go right to bed, as I have to work in the morning. Happy new year to you and Ray!
