First day of October

I have been dreading this day for a while because its the day I have decided to finally begin a treatment that my skin specialist has been after me to do since summer. Let this be a warning to any of you sun worshippers out there that don't use sunscreen or have the idea that you have to be bronze to be beautiful. In my case I spent many hours in the sun on a sailboat in my younger days and seldom used a sunscreen, back in those days it wasn't such a big deal to always have SPF anything on. I never gave my skin much thought, I'm fair but seldom got burned and eventually would get a decent tan. It would take a lot of sun to color my skin so I thought I wasn't doing it any harm. This I now know is a misnomer and any kind of skin can be damaged from the sun. The main reason I went to the Dr. to have a over all skin check in the first place was because last winter I lost my father to melanoma and his Dr told all of my family(siblings) to go and be examined because all have spent many hours in the sun and have the same genes that may be predisposed to this deadly form of skin cancer. So blog friends don't forget the sun screen and get a total body check from a qualified skin specialist.
I have what is called pre-cancer on my face and upper chest, its called "actinic keratosis" it is a result of many years of exposure to the sun and the cumulative damage that it does to the skin that has been exposed. If left untreated it will eventually become cancer. Some of the areas right now are microscopic and not visible, but I do have a few that appear as dry or red spots, thank goodness for make up that covers these flaws for now. Anyway, the treatment isn't a picnic either because it basically eats away the bad cells causing redness and the appearance of bad acne. At my age this may look a bit strange. I will be able to apply make up but this may or may not cover the redness. So, I hope I won't scare to many of my friends, it is halloween this month so maybe I can pass it off as a mask. ya that's it...
I have to apply this ointment 3 times a week for a month then take a month off and do it all over again. It is a chemo type of ointment so please pray that it helps to rid my face and chest of the pre-cancer areas. I'm not looking forward to this in any way shape or form... So reader beware of the sun... But always ,always trust in the one SON who can and does deliver us from all afflictions.
Who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God . 2 Cor 1:4

Sorry you have to deal with this. I'll pray it works well without too much discomfort.

Praying for the remedy to work! Thanks for getting the word out--I've been putting off my yearly dermo appointment.

Oh Nancy - that doesn't sound like fun. But I'll be praying that the time will pass quickly and easily and will take it all away. And it's such a good thing that you caught it early right?

Praying with you that the medicine and the Lord will heal you. I know the treatment is hard to go through, but God will help you.
