I don't have a slow cooker recipe today but I do have some neat information. I was reading the paper tonight & low and behold there was this article on how to convert from slow cooker to the oven and get the time conversion correct.
So I will pass this along to anyone that is interested. I realize that this is a spot for crock pot cooking but sometimes I like to use the oven for a recipe made for the crock-pot and I didn't always know just how long to bake something meant for a slow cooker. Any way this article makes it all so simple so here are some guidelines.
If the crock-pot calls for 1.5 to 2 hours on high,(4 to 6 hours on low) that is equivalent to 15 to 30 minutes in a 350 degrees oven. A crock-pot's 3 hours on high (6 to 8 hours on low) is about 35-45 minutes in the oven. And 4-5 hours on high, (8 to 13 hours on low) is equivalent to 60 minutes to 3 hours in the oven. Another good thing to know is the low setting on most crock-pots is equivalent to about 200 degrees in the oven, while the high setting is about 300. Also one hour on high is about the same as 2 to 2.5 hours on low. Granted it takes a bit of calculating but I found it interesting none the less and wanted to share with all of you.
