Slow cooking Thursday

I was looking through my recipes and found this one. I always think that these types of meals work better in the cooler seasons. The comfort type and it only has three ingredients which make it easy and that is always a plus.

Does anyone know why they call it Corned beef?? The only reason I can come up with is the beef was corn fed??? I'm serious, if anyone knows the real reason leave me a note.

Check out more over at Sandra's

2-3 pounds of corned beef brisket
3 carrots, cut into 3 inch pieces
1 medium cabbage, cut into small wedge
1 large onion, quartered
1 cup water
Put carrots in crock pot first. Then add remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on love 12-14 hours, or on high 5-7 hours. Push cabbage wedges down into liquid if cooking on low after 4-6 hours, and on high, after 2-3 hours. Makes 4-6 servings

Love this :)

As for corned beef, it actually has nothing to do with corn. It's the way the beef used to be cured long ago before they had refrigerators. They would use chunks of salt, in the shape and size as corn and would rub it into the meat and it would preserve the meat.

Yes I know about it, I had the same question a while ago and went to research it LOL
