One of the couples we chum around with will be leaving on Tuesday for an extensive vacation so because all the activities of the day had been called off we decided to meet for lunch at one of the local restaurants. We didn't have to worry about reservations today, I think there were only six to eight other people in the entire dining room that is usually packed.
Getting to the restaurant wasn't all that bad, the roads were not plowed but we actually didn't get that much snow. The visibility was the problem. Several times we hit complete white outs & had to come to a stop literally in the middle of the road to let the wind do its thing & clear the way, but not to worry no one was out there to run into us.
We met at noon & had great meals, good conversation, & a few laughs, & before we knew it was two pm. The wait staff kept us well supplied with anything we needed, I think we had about 3 waitresses checking on us often. On the way home we drove the lake road only to find zero visibility again (we creeped along at about 10-15 mpg.) & drifts as high as the car, & fortunately a front end loader clearing the way to keep the road open. Whew, we could be buried out there in a snow bank. The trusty Jeep got us through & it really wasn't that bad, I'm just sayin....
When we got home there was a message on the answering machine from my daughter scolding us for not staying home, she was relieved when I called her to tell her we were fine. Such a worry wort that one!!!
