Have you ever seen a walking stick??? well gaze your eyes on this one right here. They are of the order of Phasmida, and are sometimes considered to be the perfect pet. They are vegetarians, don't bite, easily kept in an aquarium, can be left alone for days and need very little attention. They can be handled but very carefully as they are fragile. They like to eat leaves, lettuce, roses, and enjoy raspberries, and blackberries. There are many species and some can become quite large, most however are less than 3-4 inches long. Their defense is, they can camouflage themselves to be the color of what ever they are feeding on. They can cling to just about anything as they have both suction cups and claws on their feet. God surely smiled maybe even laughed when He made these insects.
I was just thinking the other day, yes I do think occasionally... anyway as I was saying I was thinking we haven't seen a walking stick this year, seems like every year we see at least one sometimes a few, they come in all sizes and are very hard to spot.
They do look just like a stick and we have alot of sticks in our yard with so many trees around us there are big sticks and small ones on the ground all the time.
I hope you enjoyed this little lesson on walking sticks, I always smile when I get to see one and feel privileged to get a peek into the world not usually visited.
