God is Eternal!!!
Eternal which means, that He antedates time and is wholly independent of it. We had a discussion this morning about being very time oriented beings. We can not phantom our lives without it being associated with time. We have alarm clocks, schedules, jobs and all kinds of deadlines to keep. Time is of the up most importance to us. But not with God, time began in HIM and will end in HIM!!!
God is Immutable!!! Which means that He has never changed and can never change in any smallest measure. To change He would need to go from better to worse or from worse to better. He cannot do either, for being perfect He can not become more perfect and if He were to become less perfect He would be less than God. We however are constantly changing, and not always for the better but if we are children of the King we should be growing in wisdom and knowledge of our God, which is a step in the right direction. But I don't think we will fully grasp the total knowledge until we get to heaven.
God is Omniscient!!! Which means that He knows in one free and effortless act ALL matter, ALL spirit, ALL relationships, ALL events, past, present and future. He has no past and He has no future. He simply IS- none of the limiting and qualifying terms used of creatures can apply to HIM. We on the other hand are very limited in our understanding the eternal, immutable, and omniscient. My mind spins with just these words. What are your thoughts on any of this???
Our ladies Bible study has started up again and this seems to have triggered my thinking about knowing and learning more of God. It all breaks down to relationship with Jesus, we don't need to know everything but we do need to trust, love and obey our Lord, and strive to have a personal relationship with Him.
We are studying the Sermon on the mount and my next question is what does it mean to be "poor in spirit"???

Very interesting - and mind boggling at the same time. I can see that you'll have another great year.
My husband and I were having this same discussion a couple of morning ago as we are reading in Matthew. We decided it did not mean "poor" in the sense that we think of poverty or lack but means the opposite of prideful or full or ourselves.
God is mind boggling. If he wasn't he wouldn't be God! I love to contemplate Him.....sometimes I go to all the passages where people have had encounters with him. My favorite is Isaiah. I love His response to Moses..."I AM".
And to think this awesome, mighty God loves us!
Gods ways are hard to get our head around aren't they. I AM says it all.
There are a lot of things that can be difficult to understand. No wonder new believers or non believers have such a difficult time grasping it all.
We learn something all the time.
