John Piper - Why Memorize Scripture?

My Tuesday morning Bible study group has been studing Luke with a complimentory memory verse from John 15.  About what if means to abide and I found this video of John Piper and he explains what abiding with the Lord means in a much better way than I ever could. Give a listen.

I always like what he has to say. I must admit that I am not good, or perhaps don't put a high enough priority on memorizing. He lists good reasons to try again!

Oh WOW!!! Thanks you sooo much for posting this. It is so TRUE. I am so very thankful that as a young Christian, in my 20's, I was encouraged to do several years of Bible Memorization courses. I posted on it sometime ago. I'll have to look that up and repost it now.

I can tell you for a fact that #6- Hitting the DEVIL in the face with God's word- is what is bringing us victory in our fight for TOTAL VICTORY in our daughter, Suzette's life, in her battle with lung cancer.

I must figure out how to save this video. I'm not very good at those technical aspects.

I'm not good at retaining the things I learn. But I keep trying.
