Theraputic leave of absence to North Carolina

At the nursing home we have to get Dr's orders for residents to go out, and we have to word it as, therapeutic leave of absence. That's what I did go on a therapeutic leave of absence to North Carolina!!!
Our trip really lived up to all the advertisements we read about.
We were blessed with prefect weather, cool evenings and nights made heavenly sleeping, and the clear fresh mornings were so relaxing. I loved to sit on the porch in a rocking chair with a cup of steaming hot coffee. Smell the crisp mountain air, a clean mixture of evergreens, and leaves from hard woods. There was a brook not to far from our cabin and we could here the the rippling sound of it flowing over the rocks.
By 10:30 am the sun warmed up to about 70 and by noon it was often close to 80 even in the mountains.

We took day trips on the Blue Ridge Parkway to marvel at the sights, nothing like traveling down a quiet road with virtually no traffic.

So many overlooks to stop at but each one unique in its own way.

We especially liked to go to the highest points to look down, this picture was taken from Chimney rock, a towering monolith with panoramic 75-mile views on a clear day. Hiking trails are everywhere always leading to some fantastic view. It was impossible to see them all.

Some areas near Chimney rock were used as a backdrop in the film "The last of the Mohican's, and "A Breed Apart".

I have alot more to fill you in on but for now this is just a teaser.
As always its good to be home again, and I am ever grateful to God for our safe travels and magnificent places we got to visit.

It's so good to see a post from you again. Have I ever told you that I love the way you write? I can smell that mountain air and hear that brook! Glad you had fun. Now I need a therapeutic leave of absence!
