Last post about LiL ole' Aunts

I just can't resist letting you in on one last post about my aunts visit here with us. Last Friday we took her to the other side of the state to visit with the last living sister in law she has, our aunt Evelyn, who was married to one of aunt Caroline's brothers. Aunt Evelyn has out lived her husband and five children, so heartache is not new to her.

We took them out to lunch and enjoyed a full day of listening to stories from both of them about the past adventures they had. All very interesting I might say.

Here you see them together as we waited for our lunch, at a cute little diner. Aunt Evelyn is 92 and Aunt Caroline is 90.

When it was time for us to leave, they sat facing each other holding hands, and saying their good byes, I wanted to catch the moment so bad with my camera but didn't have the heart to interfere with the tenderness of the whole scene. They both know they may never see each other in this life and were talking about how they will meet up in heaven and all the other wonderful people who will be there that have gone on before them. Including both of their beloved husbands and all of Aunt Evelyn's five children. All of us witnessing that end to a full day had tears in our eyes, it was just so touching.

Aunt Caroline will be here with us for a few more weeks, so we are trying to fill her days with just enough activity of meeting up with old friends, but giving her breathing room to rest at the same time.

Both of these ladies are real troopers and the adventures, travels, and experiences they have had over the span of their lives is amazing to hear about.

What a blessed thing to be a witness too. You sure have a lot of long living people in your family!

A warning to get some Kleenex would have been nice. :) Seriously, though, I'm glad you're enjoying your visit as I'm convinced your aunt is too.

This post is especially tender for me as we laid a 93 year old Aunt to rest just yesterday. We will miss her but she was anxious to go to her 96 year old husband who passed away just 2 years ago.
What lessons we can learn from our aged family members.

How beautiful that the 2 ladies could meet and chat. That is so tender to see each other in person.
