Frederick Meijer Gardens

If you haven't been to the Meijer gardens this winter you should try to get there while they have the decorated Christmas trees from 30 different countries. Of course we went into the tropical section with so many different flowers, trees and even small birds to look at. I took a picture of the cutest little bird we learned was a Chinese quail but it was all blurry for some reason. It had a chubby little body and no tail. There were other birds as well but that was the most unusual.

We went today with some good friends, enjoyed the day wandering at the gardens and marveling at the beauty in all the trees. I found it quite
amazing that even in countries that are

predominately non christian that many of the ornaments depicted the birth of Christ.

This was the Austria tree

These ladies are great friends
These guys look like they are up to something.
I liked this tree it was from the Ukraine and the
story about this tree is that people would put up a plain tree because they were so poor they had no ornaments to decorate it, but in the night a spider came and wove a web over the entire tree and in the morning when the sun shone on it the web made it look at aglow and silvery.
Many of you know I like spiders so this story made me smile in defense of the lowly spider.
I can't remember where this one was from but I liked the change with more muted colors, different from the typical red and green, & thought it was very pretty as were all of them.
Lots of other stuff going on all this season at the gardens, I think the reindeer are coming tomorrow, and they have carriage rides in the evening on some nights to see the outside sculptures.
Lunch at Arnie's was super too.

Oh that looks like a beautiful place to visit for sure. Of course, I'd have to bring a camera with me. :)
