Digger Dans, saws, trucks and wood chippers

Many of you remember that I have this favorite place I walk through a huge stand of pine trees not far from my home.
Well, for the past week we have heard trucks, saws, wood chippers and heavy equipment and this is what they are doing to the lovely enchanted woods that I love to walk through. The trail is still there but it's different, the trees are not so dense and there is a change in the feeling of the forest.
My heart hurts for all the trees that have been clear away. All is not lost but the land scape is changing very rapidly overnite. I don't know who owns the land but they are making a fortune selling the wood, and they are also ruining a beautiful woods. I can't help but think of all the little animals who are now left with no homes or cover to protect them.

They are just clearing out the pine trees which I have been told after so many years weaken and fall, taking several down at one time because they have shallow roots and tend to hold each other up. Makes me think of that verse in Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion, but woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.
Maybe this is a good thing. But I hate to see it. They are leaving the hard woods so all is not lost.

This is just one of many truck loads that have gone down the road. Progress is getting to close to home. I told Sweeman we have to move further into the wilderness to get away from this kind of progress.

That is sad! It's true about pine trees. We had a lot of them behind our house and the neighbors. When they cut all theirs down, ours started to topple - first the ones adjoining their property and it moved in.
I tagged you in a post tonight. Join in if you want, but don't feel obligated!

Most folks don't think about the little creatures and it does my heart good to "read" that you do. :) I'm sorry to hear about the "progress". If it's not broke, don't fix it I figure.

Oh Nanc, i know how you feel about trees. . ., I remember when you cried the day Ray pounded a nail into a tree. . . I am sorry:(
Hang in there, feed the little critters when they come running to you:)
