Driving home Today

Here you see what I had to contend with on my drive home today... Yup, most of you know we are in the throws of a winter storm, really really windy with blowing snow in all directions. Visibility at times was and is zero, the roads themselves not so bad if you could figure out where it was.

I worked today & usually on Sundays we have lots of visitors who come after church to spend some time with our residents. There are always the usual's but on Sunday we often have grand kids, great grand kids, even pets that accompany parents on their visits. We always have a church service and volunteers from the community or near by college students who are very faithful to play table games or bingo, but today??? Not true, I think we had a total of maybe six people come through the doors. The raging blizzard outside made travel very hazardous, so we really didn't even expect one person.

It made for a very quiet day but rather boring for the residents, so most of them either slept or watched a video that we stuck in for them.

The staff just held their breath hoping the next shift staff would make it in so we could all get home, and they did, every one of them, we had no call in's. Which made the day shift all very happy to get out in time and each one made it home without incident.. Most live close by so were not to concerned but a few of us like me live toward the big lake and of course that means lake effect so the closer I got to home the worst the storm seemed but I made it just fine.

You would think that after living here most my life I would get used to these winters but each year I dislike it more. I simply don't like cold!!!!
I am just thankful for the ever present comfort I feel from my Heavenly Father who is always with me no matter what... Yeah , me and Jesus made it home just fine...

I must admit to being glad not to have to come in today, but I was really thinking of you and praying for you all to get there and back safely. Now we'll see what tomorrow brings!

Whoa! That is a BIG SNOW! I am surprised that you got through and I am surprised that the roads were not cleared by a snow plow. Maybe the winds close the roads as fast as they can plow them. Scary!
