Something about time

I have this beautiful old clock that I inherited from my maternal grand mother. It keeps time pretty well if I remember to wind it every three days. I has a chime on the half hour and bongs rather softly on the hour. It can be touchy, if I put it in a place where it can be disturbed in the least way it will fowl up the pendulum. It has to be in on a solid surface with no chance of rocking the boat.
Speaking of solid surfaces we need to base our beliefs on the solid ground of the Word that is at our disposal in almost any house in this great country.
We are called to assemble together, the day Heb. 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is: but exhorting one another and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching". We are called to learning, to be in charge of who we are and in whom we believe, not to be moved by the world but only by God. This is so important for today's believer.
Learning to receive God's word means to meditate on it. Joshua 1:8 "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for them thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success." Constant exposure to the word will make us free, keep us free, and keep us healthy. We will be set apart because we are not of this world, but have been bought with the price of Jesus blood to fellowship with Him in His kingdom and not this rotten old world that seems to be crumbling around us.
Just like the old clock sitting in my office it has to be maintained in order to run right, we have to remember to maintain our spiritual being by reading the Word, to stay strong for what ever is in our path of life. I have to admit I don't spend the time I should reading God's word and it is something I have to work on. Life gets in the way of quiet times but they are so special when we are obedient and God always reaffirms His love for us when we do, and our lives run smoother as a reward.

Nancy, It's funny how I can be thinking about how I could do this or that better or more often and then low and behold you make the "how do I" so easy. Thank you, you're a good friend, Kae

Well maybe you do spend time in the word but just not in the religious standard that is sometimes imposed upon us. Sometimes we can overdue it on the Word and just read it for the sake of reading it to please that standard. It's sort of like medicine, just because we get the whole bottle at once, doesn't mean we're to take the whole bottle at once. KWIM?
