Have you ever seen such a big pumpkin??? I supposed I have at some point in my life but not up this close and personal. I know I have never grown anything remotely this big in any garden of mine.
Our activity director had this monster delivered today and we were all wondering if it would even fit through the doors but sure nuff it did. Several of the residents were watching for it all afternoon to arrive, it came via pickup truck from the man who grew it. Several of our more hefty staff members got the thing inside with lots of grunting and groaning. But you know that is biblical don't ya??? The grunting and groaning that is.

Anyway here is one of my models sitting next to it so you can get a prospective of the size, she was just amazed with how big it was and gave me permission to take her picture next to the great pumpkin. Speaking of which that is the purpose for getting this thing in the first place. You are all familiar with the great pumpkin story from the cartoon Peanuts aren't you??? Well if not. it does exist & here's the proof. If I saw this pumpkin rising out of a pumpkin patch in the dark I would sure be high tailing it outa there.
Seriously, we got this thing for a very creative reason. Tomorrow some one with a bunch of artistic talent will be coming to paint, carve and sculpt our pumpkin with the story of the Great pumpkin on it. I'm told it will take about three hours for the person to complete the creative scene. Many of our residents are really looking forward to watching this story unfold before their eyes.
Just in case you want to know how much it weights I tried to get a picture of the piece of tape on the side of it but it didn't show up to well, anyway it says 420 pounds. !!!

Hello Nancy. I found you over at Susan's blog.
That is some big Pumpkin and I feel really sorry for whoever had to haul it in. I would think it would take a big piece of machinery!
I am also a Christin and a member of CBO (Christin Blogger's Online)
I'm mom to five, grandma to 12 and great grandma to 14. Oh yes I can't forget my two little Yorkies. They are my family now that the kids are all grown and gone.
It's nice to meet another Christian friend.
