This past week-end was our annual family reunion on my husbands side &
this year we gathered at Cran-Hill Ranch. Which is a family campground
that also has church retreats, youth camps,& adventure experiences.
The vision statement of the park is to faithfully minister with excellence,
growing in scope and impact as the Lords leads. Transforming lives into the
image of Christ.
It was the first time I have ever been there & I was impressed, It is very well run, with activities going on all day from dawn to dusk for all ages. You can try horse back riding, take out a canoe, swimming, skateboarding, play a game of baseball, go tubing, hike the trails through the woods, even catch your own frog or turtle for a frog and turtle race on the beach.
Some of us are not campers so we got to stay in this very cool old stone house. I think there were about 15 of us in the house the rest of them had campers or tents.
The house was very comfortable with a well stocked kitchen (except the food) which we had an over abundance of.
So many good cooks in this family every one had their fill and if they didn't it was their own fault cuse there was
no shortage of goodies.
The huge enclosed porch was more than adequate to feed everyone with plenty of tables and chairs for all to get around. We ate our main meals together on this porch and it was organize chaos to say the least. But free of bugs and out of the almost to cool fall like weather we had on Saturday.
Saturday evening 25 of us piled into a hay wagon pulled by two huge horses and took a hayride through the park, it was fun to hear the kids giggle and listen to the comments they made about the whole thing. Excitement was high the whole week end. I couldn't get the picture of the hay wagon to upload but I will try again. Blogger gets testy sometimes.
It was good to see everyone in one place to catch up on old and new news, & reconnect with those you don't see but only once or twice a year and marvel at how all the kids are growing so fast, not to mention how the rest of us are not changing one bit, no more wrinkles, or gray hairs, or aches and pains. RIGHT!!!!!
Anyway it was a high light for my sweet mother-in-law who is 91 years young to have so many of her own in one place at one time. I mean to say she was more excited than some of the youngsters.
We had a mix of warm sun and overcast skies all day Saturday and even got a good hard rain that lasted about 30 minutes but we put the coffee pot on and started a fire in the huge fire place in the stone house and stayed cozy warm and dry. The lake cleared out of swimmers real fast when the sun went in and the rains came but the storm moved off and activities resumed as usual.
It was a fun time and plans are in the making for next year already.
We ended with a church service in the woods with a great message comparing the chicken with a cow for breakfast meal. Stay with me here, the chicken contributes the eggs which are good but the cow gives its life to provide the steak. Which are you someone who just contributes a little or someone who gives his life for Christ?? That was it in a nut shell but the message hit home.
