I have a confession to make. I like bugs, yup that's right I like bugs. They fascinate me, its not that I want to hold it or anything like that but to observe the fragile design that our God has taken to make each one so beautiful and marvelous. Today when sweet man was mowing the grass he spied this cute little guy just climbing out of his cocoon. With each pass he wiggled out a little further so once the grass was cut. Sweetman took a few shots. Of course he knows I like bugs and so it was for me to see this up close and personal. This is a cicada, these are the insects that make that loud buzzing noise that is heard on hot summer days.

Well, I DON'T like bugs, but I must admit, he is right cute. You need to go to my friend Patricia's blog- Pollywog Creek, and find some of her bug photographs. :o)
Interesting Nanc!
Tom says that they start making that noise when there is only 6wks (or something like that) before we get Fall.
While we were on our way up to Silver Lake seen some leaves changing color already. I do notice some around here too. Great BonFire weather.
They've started their buzzing around here!!!!

Well it's a good thing that someone likes bugs- because they aren't high on my list.
Grasshoppers especially freak me out!

I'm not exactly a bug lover but they can be fascinating creatures. They each have a part in creation.
For the first time ever, we have Cicada Killers! YIKES! Have you ever seen those things? They freak me out! They are about three times the size of Cicada's and they fly around like helicopters with a loud buzz.
I don'ut think I wold say he is cute, but he is interesting and it's pretty amazing how God has made all the big and little creatures!
I agree with Mari, he is NOT cute. Nanc, I remember you catching spiders and taking them out the front door at work and letting them go free,so we would not kill them. We heard those buzzing VERY LOUDLY IN Kentucky, and they were HUGE!!!! that was nice of Ray to take pictures for you:)
Well then maybe you would know...I was under the understanding that Cicadas only came out every so many years. If those are Cicadas, do you know what those bugs are? What say you?
He's definitely interesting, I had a hard time telling the head from the backside though LOL I was confused at first and didn't know what it was.
Hi Nancy! Cathy alerted me a few days agi about your bug photo and encouraged me to stop by, but we've been a bit distracted with this tropical storm that won't go away and this is the first opportunity I've had to come visit you. I, too, am a mom, grandmother, nurse and fascinated with bugs. I don't care much for holding them or having them crawl around inside my house (though usually my cats keep that from happening), but I love photographing and studying them and delighting in the tiniest of details. I believe they testify to our amazing Creator, don't you?
how cool. i didn't even know cicadas emerged from cocoons. and, for some reason, i would have thought that would happen in the spring. i love taking up close pictures of insects so i understand your fascination.
