My occasional friend

I don't have any pets anymore, but do get an occasional visitor. Ever since we have lived here this black lab has come to visit from time to time. He is very friendly and we always have a good time either playing with a stick or ball or going for a walk. He is well cared for, his coat is thick and shiny and as you can see he is well fed. Today, sweet man & I went for a walk and our black dog we call "bear" came running up to us as we walked down our drive way, he playfully prances around our feet and comes close for a pat on the head.

We did learn where he lives after the first few visits and also learned he likes to get loose for an occasional jaunt out to explore on his own as his owners have told us. Today he walked along with us the whole 2 miles running on ahead only to turn to see if we were coming, running back to us and then running out on his own again only to show up after a few minutes. He seems to be very confident in what he is doing and where he is going. We have never heard him bark, and he always looks like he has a smile on his face.

Both of us enjoy these little visits and will sometimes offer him some kind of treat, that's probably why he returns but, I like to think he enjoys our company just as much as we enjoy his. If only people could be as unassuming and friendly as he is we would have a much better world.

Nancy, I loved reading your meme and seeing your family. I told my husband about your precancerous condition because he gets his head and face so sunburned every summer. He has a place on his face right now that needs a doctor to look at. Thanks for that warning.

Also, I love this dog! We had a brown lab that we named "Bear" and he was the sweetest dog. That was when we lived in Ohio.

Hope you had a wonderful day in the Lord!

He's a cutie! It reminds me of my Dad's neighbor dog. He always visits my Dad and looks for treats. When anyone comes over he comes from down the street to check them out.

He's a sweet boy. I don't guess there is too much traffic around there? I also talk to and play with the dogs across the street. :o)

I have the same kind of dog. Black lab, friendly indeed and does not bark much at all. She now is learning to bark at unknown vehicles in the drive. The one's she knows she just wags her tail like crazy and waits for them to enter the door to greet her. You are right in saying the world would be better. Maybe God gave us dogs so we could learn from them in being friendly and have an unconditional love.

We had a black lab named Samson years ago. Brought back memories of him.
