The Truth Project

My small group Bible study is delving into a major study called, "The Truth Project" it is done by "Focus on the Family". It consists of 12 DVD's that are each one hour long, in the setting of a college class room & presented by Del Tackett. You can check it out on the link above. He is able to do an excellent job of making a person think in more depth & the real reason God sent His son. What is truth??? How it relates to reality.
There is a cosmic battle going on all the time that we are not even aware of, the Spirit of truth vs. the Spirit of falsehood, reality vs. illusion. The connection between sin, lies & deceit- every sin that besets us can be traced to a belief in a lie- our sins take us captive to the lies of the world. There is a battle of world views that even Christians have been duped on we have to aware of the oppositions between Gods truth claims & the lies of the world, the flesh & the devil. God is the ultimate source of truth. Colossians 2:2 My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they know the mystery of God, namely ,Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. This is the backbone of the entire project. I'll try to summarise each lesson as we learn but this is a great project for any church or small group to get into. Here's a great thought to leave you with "Do you really believe, that what you believe is really real???

I bet that's a good study. "focus" usually has good stuff.
I like your Huckabee for president sign. I voted for him yesterday but MI didn't come through again. We'll see what the rest of the country does.

I just wanted to say that we are for Mike Huckabee. Our oldest son is SO into this upcoming election. He did some of the graphics work for the campaign on Myspace.

Dear Nancy,
I have been browsing down your blog site and found it very interesting.
There is huge gap between the Norwegian and the American culture and way of living, which makes it even more challenging learning the nuances and the hows and whys Americans think and act the way they do.
In "red" Norway more than 90% of the population by free choice belong to the Public Lutheran Protestant Church. Both the Royal family, the prime minister and the church minister are bound to be members of the church.
Ten we have a lot of dissenter churches of which the Pentecost Church is by far the greatest.
Throughout the year Christian Holy Days are being kept holy, shops closed, no working, except for the vital labor done in hospitals and health institutions. Two holy days
in Christmas, four in Easter, two in Pentecost, even the Ascension day is holy by us.
In elementary school Christianity is a science equal to languages and maths. That may change in near future, I'm afraid.
On the other hand we have a freedom of choice when it comes to abortion, with the result that children with Downs syndrome alas are becoming rare pearls.
Politically Norwegian medias have been focusing on the Democrats.
We've never quite understood Reagan or Bush.
Reading your post I googled Mr.Huckabee, and what I found was so very promising. A former Baptist minister from "the people"speaking from his heart and set out to make America "Godlier".
Norwegian medias believes he has a good case, but not enough money. That shouldn't be a problem if all good forces gather around him, or?

Do I believe?
Job 19:
25For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
That's what I believe.

That sounds like such an interesting study Nancy! More and more I have been impressed with the fact that we need to stand for truth in this time when so many don't want to offend anyone. I think I might have mentioned this to you before but a good book to read is called "The Truth War" by John MacArthur. He explains why we as Christians need to stand and fight for the truth - the real truth.

I like a lot of stuff by "Focus" too. I agree with laura, John MacArthur's "the Truth War" is excellent. I like ALL his stuff, big fan for 30 years now.
