New Microwave!!!
My dear sweet husband surprised me with installing a new micro over my stove today, ain't that the coolest thing???
We had one of those hoods over the stove that I really have hated from day one. You know the kind that has a fan that is worthless & the only thing that is does is collect grease & grime that is next to impossible to get clean.
The other day I was fussing & fuming about how much I detest the thing & was trying to get the crud off with something that smelled like nuclear waste & about ate the skin off my hands, all to no avail. The hood still had this sticky feeling to it after scrubbing, & scrubbing, so I gave up on it & continued to express my disdain. All the while my husband just listened without so much as one word.
Well, today I came home from work to find him diligently working in the kitchen on installing this great new microwave, over the stove & that awful hood was no where to be seen.
It was quite a process & of course took longer than initially expected but once done what a difference. I should have taken a picture of the ugly hood, but he had it out before I got home so you will just have to take my word for it, it was ugly!!!!
Oh, yeah did I mention that once the new one was up there all installed we noticed a huge dent on the left corner that could be easily seen every time you walk into the kitchen, neither one of us could believe we missed it before getting to this point but we did, sooooo, after all that work we took it back out & today exchanged it for a whole undented one.
All of the hard work had been done so it was just a matter of hoisting the new one in place & a few screws put in to hold in up. But, oh is it sooooo nice. Now I have extra space on my counter top where the old micro used to sit, so tonight I spent the evening cleaning the old one out & rearranging the stuff on the counter top, you know the toaster, can opener, coffee pot, etc. I didn't take a picture but it looks so nice.
Here's the finished product
My husband is a great guy, I think I'll keep him, he can do just about anything.

It looks really nice! Tell Ray I'm impressed.
Wonderful...the kind of thing that my husband would do...and I am keeping mine as well.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Wow! Your husband really is great Nancy - definitely something to be thankful for! Maybe to thank him you could cook him a nice "microwave" dinner! :)
That is awesome- I would love to have my microwave above the stove- maybe someday!
What a great husband!!!
Great job Ray!! looks very nice. Happy Thanksgiving to you both:)
Hi Nancy, I'd would agree that your husband is definitely a keeper. What a nice surprise!
Thank you for visiting my sunset blog. I'm glad you like the pictures.
Isn't that wonderful! You do have just the nicest husband.
Equal parts warm water and sudsy ammonia will cut through the greasy gunk on walls and appliances and cabinets near the stove, hard on hands and nose so wear rubber gloves and a mask. Apply the stuff use a green 3-m scrubby and rinse well after. It's a cheap but effective cleaner for grease. Jackie
