I Would hate living in the city & all the noises that are part of city life, the smells of exhaust from so many cars, the lights that never let you see the night sky so today I today as I was walking I took a few shots of the scenery that I see just steps from my back door.

I have been pretty convicted these days thinking as I walk about how much I complain about the little everyday things that bug me.

One of the little things is the dirt road that I live on, I dislike the mud when it rains, & how I never have a clean car, & the dust in the summer that seems to find itself all over the inside of my house, just to mention a couple of things, but then if it was paved I wouldn't have the peaceful walks that I so enjoy.

My favorite part is walking through this stand of pines & smelling the scent of pine needles that cushion the forest floor. When you step on them the aroma of fresh pine wafts up to the nose & is most delightful. The sun as it shines through the tree tops bathing the woods with streams of light that filter down & bring out the beauty of the leaves that are clinging onto the sassafras .

All these things I am most thankful for & I have to remember that my God has provided all this for my pleasure, not for me to complain about.

It is so quiet that all I hear is the gentle breeze as it rustles in the tops of the trees, & my own heart beating as I walk through this spot. I rarely meet anyone else on this road but if I do they are enjoying the same solitude & we utter quiet greetings as we pass so not to disturb each others thoughts or ruin the tranquility.

Its a way for me to unwind after working in a place that is sometimes sensory overload & to spend those very blessed moments talking to the Lord.

Just today a verse in Philippians came to me, where Paul was telling the Philippians that no matter what his circumstances were he was content. I have no reason to complain about anything, not even about the dirt road.

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed to full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:12-13

Nancy- those are awesome pictures- I love them. I love your reminder that God has created all this for our pleasure not for us to complain about. It's nice to be reminded to look for the good in everything. Great post!

I LOVE your neck of the woods!
Except for the color in the trees it could be my neck of the woods.

Wow - Yes, this post is MUCH better with the photos - they are beautiful!

And I agree with you about complaining. A lot of things have happened this weeked to make me realize what a complainer I am and I have decided to really focus on being content and not complaining - so thanks again for that reminder!

Hey N!

Love the pictures! Not the place to tell ya but your email is not working. Keep getting mail sent to me. Deb sent to me and Tina sent to me and I tried to forward to you and I send to the charter one. Then the global one says not email address. I am stumped. I was trying to forward Tina's email to ya.

don't complain about the quiet solitude of the beautiful place you live...
in the towns you have no nice places to walk... or beautiful scenery to make you feel relaxed...
I love your pictures of your nice quiet place to walk...
I can pretend I am there!!
